There are many ways of asking the question, “How much more confident am I as a person?” The short answer is “Not as much”. It’s important to realize that you were not given that level of self-confidence by your birth. You have to work very hard in order to build it up and that means re-training your mind, body and soul to feel better about yourself.
How much more confident do you feel when you are with people who are good enough at what they do that you don’t feel inferior to them? Or when you are around people who make you feel inadequate but who are good enough in what they do to deserve any success? These are the kinds of examples that make it clear that it takes effort and thought in order to be successful and feel good about who you are. By thinking consistently and deliberately about how much more confident you are for example, you can change your mindset to a more positive one.
Self-esteem and self-confidence are closely intertwined, because self-esteem is also related to self-confidence. If you are lacking in either one of these, chances are you are feeling insecure and that affects your ability to be successful in the many aspects of life that we must deal with on a daily basis. A positive, proactive outlook in life is required in order to deal with all the issues that may come our way. At the end of the day people want to be understood and feel good about themselves. Being aware of how much more confident you are as an individual can help you do just that.
The more confident you are, the better you will be in almost everything you do. Even small details such as how you dress nicely or how you present yourself to others can make a big difference. If you are not happy about how you look in any way or you feel uncomfortable in a situation, it may be time for you to take a good look at your self-confidence. If it is very low, chances are you could do a lot of changes to improve it before it gets too bad and forces you to deal with difficult people on a regular basis.
As we have discussed, the internal narrator in our brain is responsible for storing and retrieving the various experiences that we have had throughout our lives. If your memory is not what it should be, you have to start practicing positive self-talk. You can do this by simply repeating positive statements to yourself like; I am a precious gem, I am beautiful, I am lucky, I am beautiful, I am amazing, I am very smart, etc. By doing this over again, you will be able to mentally rehearse positive self-talk so that whenever the need arises, you are ready to go.
One great way to boost your confidence level is by going out and talking to various people. When you are out there, you should try to get into conversation with as many different types of people as possible. Go up to people with normal conversation levels and ask them questions. When you talk to them, try to be as interesting as possible. You may be surprised to learn that you will be able to find ways to boost your confidence.
Another simple way to gain confidence is by practicing the power posing exercise. The power pose is where you put both your hands on your stomach and hold them there. You then move them slowly in a steady motion until you feel some resistance. Try to maintain your power pose for about two minutes. This exercise is extremely effective as it will help you get rid of all the negative energy that you may have stored.
When you are trying to boost your self-confidence, remember that you should never go into social situations without paying attention to your body language first. Your body language can reveal so much about your true feelings. If you notice that you are sweating a lot or you are making eye contact frequently with someone, then you are probably trying to impress the person. Pay attention to your body language and you should find new ways to become more confident.
